Everyday Pads: Harmful or Not?

Surprisingly enough, there is a lively debate about daily pads and how to use them. Let's set the record straight.

Rumor 1: Everyday pads cause inflammation

The pads themselves can not cause an infection. They contain no viruses or bacteria, and in fact, differ from menstrual pads only in size and thickness. Pads are most likely not related to inflammation.

Rumor 2: Everyday pads lead to more discharge

A small, colorless vaginal discharge is normal, but the amount of it may vary depending on the day of your cycle, your body's characteristics, and whether you're pregnant or sexually active. Pads ===cannot affect what is happening inside the body.

Rumor 3: Pads don't allow the skin to breathe

This only happens if you wear very tight-fitting synthetic underwear that adheres to the skin, which is not advised. In most other cases, the padding is not so tight that it restricts air.

Rumor 4: The pad should be changed every 3–4 hours

The pad should be replaced if it is no longer clean and dry. If the pad has not yet absorbed any secretions, then there is no point in changing it.

So, are there any risks?

Allergic reactions to materials that manufacturers add to the composition of absorbent materials can happen in rare cases. In this case, the use of pads can cause rashes, itching, and redness of the skin.

However, many manufacturers offer pads without fragrance. In general, daily pads offer a simple and affordable way to keep a feeling of freshness, dryness, and comfort during the day.
